Fulbright Specialist In search Of A PARTNER

Español

The Fulbright Specialist Program is designed to support intercultural and scholarly exchange by giving professionals the opportunity to partner with an educational organization abroad for 2-6 weeks.

I have been selected to be on the Fulbright Specialist Roster based on my decade of experience in human rights, storytelling, and video advocacy. I am searching for an organization to work with on a project or consultancy that would fit that timeframe.

Below are details of the program and of my experience and interests. If you see an opportunity for me to collaborate with you or your organization, I’d love to hear from you. Please email me at mb [at] madeleinebair [dot] com or send me a message on LinkedIn.

TIMEFRAME & LOCATION

The project must be 2-6 weeks long. It needs to be approved by the Fulbright commission, a process which I am told can take three months.

It can take place in any country where there is a U.S. embassy or a Fulbright Commission. The host organization can be a university, non-profit organization, government agency, or cultural institution. The host is expected to provide in-country transportation, accommodation and meals, which may be provided in the form of in-kind services.

I am fluent in Spanish and particularly interested in working on a project in Latin America, though I will consider other locations.

How Can I work with you?

I would like to partner with a community media, human rights, or cultural organization to support their capacity for multimedia storytelling. Here are just a few ideas of what that could look like:

  • Lead workshops for a community media collective on reporting, filming for evidence, and online distribution.

  • Partner with a cultural institution to record poetry and oral history exchanged at a festival and consult on methods of distributing the recordings online.

  • Consult with a research institute on incorporating multimedia into the research projects. This can include training on filming techniques and on verifying citizen footage; consulting on conducting interviews; and strategizing on video distribution.
